Bad Gastein

I am taking my wife to this place for 4-5 days for a surprise 40th. I have not been able to find out too much about the surrounding area, and wonder if anyone knows what outdoor activities will be available at the start of December. Also what the snow situation is like in the area now. We are both non-skiers but would consider trying it if nearby
