My daughter tried to get tickets to Die Walkure today and it is already sold out. In the States, people can go and wait the day of a performance and see if any seats open up. Can you do that in Vienna?

The new production of Die Walküre is one of the most sought-after performances of the season and it will be extremely difficult to get tickets. You can check back online regularly, sometimes returned tickets become available again at unpredictable moments. Also, you can go in the evening one hour before curtain time and hope for returns or people selling their tickets there. Again, for Die Walküre it will be hard. Also, there are several independent ticket-agencies in Vienna, many of which are online. Usually the mark-up is 20 per cent, but for Die Walküre I%26#39;m pretty sure it will be more.
There is always the option of standing room tickets. Refer to Vienna Inside pages for more info on that. Pretty tough for Die Walküre though...

Just saw that several pairs of tickets are being offered on Ebay Austria/Germany.
