Opinions on Hotel choices

Hi Guys

I%26#39;m travelling to Vienna on the 9th with my fiancee to visit the Christmas Markets. I%26#39;m struggling to decide on a hotel where to stay and have come up with the following as possibles.

I want somewhere that has good transport links and is close to the centre, so would welcome opinions on the following:

Bellevue

Arcotel Wimberger

Hotel Capri

City Hotel Deutschmeister

As long as the hotel is clean and tidy I%26#39;ll be happy as ultimately it%26#39;ll just be somewhere to put our heads down at night.

Cheers

It may give the regular posters something to go on if you told them the sort of budget you had in mind.

Do you prefer modern or traditional, quiet or centre of the action, chain hotel or boutique, regular hotel or bed and breakfast (Viennese %26quot;Pension%26quot;)?

Give them that and you%26#39;ll certainly get plenty of recommendations.

Cheers

Norman

We arrive on the 8th so lets hope for good weather for us both!

Maybe look at the reviwes here on the tipadvisor:

From looking at the different locations I would skip the Hotel Capri.

The closest to the city center (1st district) is the Hotel Deutschmeister.

Have you looked at the Hotel Austria - it is right in the historic city center, 2 min. walk from St. Stephans cathedral and still not expensive. Also it only has TOP Reviews:

I also had problems deciding. There are so many hotels and everything looks nice on their web pages, but it is not so when you read guest reviews.

However, you should decide fast if you want to be there during the Christmas Market season.

I have booked Papageno at Wiedner Hauptstrasse, but I am still not sure if I could get same quality for lower price? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Papageno is a nice hotel in about 15 minutes walking distance to the Opera house (or 5-10 min. by tram), but Wiedner Hauptstrasse is quite a busy street where also the tram runs....so make sure your room does not face the street!!!!

If you like this design you could have also tried the

Hollmann beletage which is located in the heart of the historic city center, just 2 min. from Stephansplatz in a quiet sidestreet:

Thank You Ulrike!

The hotel you have suggested is really nice!

I wish I knew about it earlier because it is allready booked for the seson. If you can suggest something else you are very welcome to do so.

Thanks for the tips Ulrike, I tried the Austria but they%26#39;re fully booked unfortunately, so I%26#39;ve opted for the City Hotel Deutschmeister instead.

Rate was £120 for two nights bed and breakfast so am pleased - looking forward to coming! Hopefully there%26#39;ll be more snow :-D

whilst I%26#39;m at it, can you advise on the best route to get to the hotel from the airport?

Much thanks

Take the S-Bahn or the City Airport train (CAT) to Wien Mitte and there change into the subway U4 (green line) in direction of Heiligenstadt until the stop %26quot;Rossauerlaende%26quot; - then it is just a 5 min. walk!

Or you take the Vienna Airport lines bus to Schwedenplatz and there you take the U4 subway!

Dear Ulrike,

I hope it wont be unapropriate to ask for another advice!?

Would You recomend -Bella Vienna Apartment- at Gumpendorferstrasse more than hotel Papageno?

The quality of the rooms seems to be similar, like the price, too...but I wish I could be there and see myself.

Thank You!

The Vienna Apartments look very nice:

...but the location of the Papageno is more convenient for sightseeing!
