Restaurants?

We are going to be in Vienna at the beginning of December. We need advice about where to have dinner on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. (Where doing a He ringer evening on Friday.) We would like to have something better than the Viennese equivalent of pub grub, however, given the continuing decline of the dollar we need to be cost conscious. Can anyone offer some recommendations? Thanks.

I forget to mention that we will be staying near St. Stephen%26#39;s

All of the above mentioned restaurants are walkable!

Try Plachutta - 10 minutes from St Stephens. Not cheap but a meal with wine for 2 shouldn%26#39;t be more than about 60 euros. great food. Might need to book for Saturday or Sunday. Any hotel can help and direct you.

Did you mean a Heuriger evening? If so, don%26#39;t go to Grinzing, try Nussdorf, Stammersdorf, or Sievering. For a good meal try the Witwe Bolte or Spatzennest in the Spittleberg area.

There are quite a few nice restaurants in the 1st district that are not that expensive. Some even have nice set menus at lunchtime during the week for reasonable prices. Here are some suggestions:

Jonathan and Sieglinde

1010 Vienna, Riemergasse 16

http://www.jonathan-sieglinde.com

All of the dishes are made with either apples or potatoes and very good.

If you want good indian food go to:

Nirvana

1010 Wien, Rotenturmstraße 16-18

http://www.restaurant-nirvana.at

A bit rustic but also open on Sunday (the others are closed)

Bettelstudent

1010 Wien, Johannesgasse 12

http://www.bettelstudent.at

Right behind the Stephansplatz there is the Cafe Diglas

A typical Viennese Coffeehouse that also serves good warm meals and is also open on Sundays.

Cafe Diglas

1010 Wien, Wollzeile 10

http://www.diglas.at

Enjoy!

Thank you all for your recommendations.
