I will be spending my holiday in Achenkirch (15th - 21st Dec) and will take a 9.30 a.m. flight back home on 23rd Dec. 2007, from Munich Airport.
To play safe, I%26#39;m putting up a night (on 22nd Dec) in Munich.
Would it be better to take the train from Achenkirch to Munich via Innsbruck or via Salzburg? It%26#39;d be nice to arrive early in Munich on 22nd Dec so that I can at least have half day to see Munich.
My first 2 nights in Austria (6th %26amp; 7th Dec) will be in Innsbruck and I%26#39;ll be taking the train from Munich to Innsbruck.
Thank you for your viewws. Cheers!!

From Achenkirch you can get the bus or a taxi down to Jenbach which is the nearest train station, and there catch the train direct to Munich. It%26#39;s about 2hrs or so by train (I%26#39;ve done it in the other direction, Munich to Jenbach).
Train timetables are available here: www.oebb.at
Here are the bus timetables for Jenbach-Achenkirch (also useful if you want to do a day trip to Innsbruck from Achenkirch - you can get trains to Innsbruck from Jenbach):

It takes about 45 mins and costs 4,50 euros per person. If you get a taxi, it would probably be about 30mins. For lots of people with luggage, it would be worth getting a taxi - your hotel in Achenkirch would be able to advise you on costs, ordering a taxi etc. I suspect it would cost about 20 euros or so. Some of the taxis are quite big (minibuses) so would hold your party and luggage.
I sometimes go on holiday to Pertisau which is another village on the Achensee.
There are lot of spa and beauty treatments offered in the hotels round the lake, which might interest the ladies in your party. And the food is fantastic!
