The purchase of leather boots (or shoes - or maybe both!)

Visiting Salzburg in December mainly for both the Xmas Markets and to see the sights, however.......... shoe shops, unfortunately, usually fall into the latter of the two! I have great difficulty not purchasing at least one pair of either boots or shoes.

a. - is this the place to consider a good quality purchase and b. - if so which shops do you recommend I try?

In the Old City the shoes can be expensive but stunning and extremely stylish. In the Maxglan shopping centre (you can get the bus there) they might be cheaper. I got some traditional, suede, Austrian shoes from a shop on Bach Strasse, called Moser. It%26#39;s a kind of wholesaler that sells a lot of traditional Austrian stuff like lederhosen, dirndls, knitwear and fabulous coats. They are much cheaper than the clothes in the city. Bach strasse is a bus ride from the old city though. I can%26#39;t remember what number we took but you%26#39;d be able to find out.

If you really don%26#39;t want to venture further afield then there are many shoe shops in the old city (the alleys that connect the streets are good places to look) and just across the river on Linzergasse. Shoes don%26#39;t really figure largely in the Christmas markets themselves - they tend more to be sheepskin slippers, etc.
