Munich to Lanersbach

Hi,

i am flying into Munich in March and travelling to Lanersbach for a skiing holiday. I have looked at a couple of Rail websites online and it seems fairly easy to get from Munich to Jenbach by Train and from jenbach onto lanersbach, I just have acouple of questions about the tickets.

Is there any advantage buying the train tickets in advance online or can we get them when we turn up at the Station in Munich? When we get to Jenbach we switch to the mountain railway, If we buy the Zillertal area ski pass does this cover the mountain railway as well? Any other tips for this journey would be appreciated.

trhanks,

Lynsey

The railroad from Jenbach only runs as far as Mayrhofen.

It is not a mountain railway - simply runs along the Ziller Valley and makes stops at almost every village.

they also have bus service at various times during the day

look to this website for schedules and costs.

www.zillertalbahn.at

no reduction for having the ski pass that I know about . You can purchase all tickets when you arrive .

At the mayrhofen train station - you will find taxis that take you upward to lanersbach- perhpas 15 minutes - I have never used this and do not know price - can not be thatr much- occasional bus service too.

Lanersbach is connected to the lift system to Finkenberg , mayrhofen etc. to make a good and varied ski circus-

a good place for a holiday in my opinion.

Ask your hotel - perhaps they can arrange a transfer for you from Mayrhofen

buses to lanersbach start from train station and run regularly, poss every 30 mins but have a break in middle of the day. they are going in the direction of hintertux. takes 20 mins id say. wil prob be full of skiers!

see mayrhofen.at website, it has bus time tables on, make sure u get right timentable for the date u are there, the winter times (from 22dec)are diff to summer times.

maybe best to buy ttrain ticket in advance to save language problems. the line up from jenbach to mayrhofen is regular daily takes maybe 30-40 mins and about 4 times a day its actuially a steam train running the service!

have agreta time, its our 4 th visit!
