I have started researching a trip to Vienna for June 2008. Many posters mention Euro 2008. What is that? I gather it is some large event which likely will make it difficult to find hotels. What are the dates for this event?

The event you mention is the European Football ( soccer ) championships .
Austria and Switzerland co- host this event with matches held in 4 cities in each country,
Individual countries now qualify for this event.
In Austria cities include Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt.
The final to be held in Vienna on June 29.
