Hello,
I%26#39;m looking to book a hotel in Kitz in February for a week. We would like to stay in a hotel that is right on the main street that also has a hot tub. It%26#39;s difficult to tell from all the descriptions which ones are actually in the center of town. The only one I%26#39;m sure of is the Zur Tenne. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Heather

First of all - you will have to be very quick as February (besides Christmas) is the busiest time of the year in the skiing resorts as there will be Austrian school holidays.
Hotel zur Tenne is a very good choice!
What is also nice and currently being renovated, is the Hotel Schwarzer Adler - although it is not on the main street, it is still very close to the center:

I used to spend my skiing holidays in Kitzbühl for many years, and both hotels are really very nice and central, the Tenne even a little bit more.
I don´t know about the extent of the renovations in the Schwarzer Adler, but until ast season, I would have said the Tenne is the more elegant, stylish place, whereas the Schwarzer Adler is the very comfortable version of a typical tyrolian inn, with very cozy rooms and especially a very nice restaurant serving local specialties.

Just looked at the pictures of the %26quot;new%26quot; Schwarzer Adler now for the first time, looks very different and very stylish now as well, hard decision, but you might have to go after availabilities as well, this is the absolute high season ...

I stayed at the Hotel Tiefenbrunner a few years back and is a wonderful hotel right in the middle of town. The food in particular I remember was excellent and the room at the back had stunning views of the Kitzbuheler horn

Hi Hmwende
Take a look at the reviews for the Sporthotel Reisch : writers say it has a great location, which my wife and I agree with having stayed there some years ago. The food, service and ambiance was great. And it is right opposite a supermarket and the famous Londoner pub for great apre Ski. It also does a really nice hot tub, or bath in fact ! They also have a lively bar outside with out door heaters. And of the central hotels, I think it is the nearest to the Hahnnenkam lifts.
I would try for a rear facing room, some or all of which have balconies, as it will be quiter late at night.
We are staying there again this coming January - can%26#39;t wait !

Concerning the sporthotel Reisch - yes, it is a nice hotel, but as mentioned above it is located opposite the %26quot;Londoner%26quot; pub, which means that it can be pretty noisy during the night, when you have aroom facing the street....

Hi Again Hmwende
When we were at the Sporthotel Reisch 3 years ago, we had a room at the back and were not disturbed at all. The room had a balcony with pleasant views.
( Regarding rooms at the front : one person wrote that it was only noisey if you left the window (s) open )
If you look at their website, which gives you contact details :
%26quot; http://www.sporthotelreisch.at %26quot;
you will see a video of the hotel - and it is just as the video shows - quite elegant and relaxing, especially the dining.
kind regards

Try the Best Western. It is very good.Rooms are big and nice and the food is excelent. It is 2 minutes walking to the center but it is right at the base of the slopes and 20 meters to the cable cars.Have a nice holiday. You must act very fast.Dan

Hi Hmwende
I think Dantudor is referring to the Best Western Kaiserhof, up the hill from the centre, right by the main lift system - the Hahnennkam. It looks lovely inside in the lounge/dining/bar areas and the rooms are beautifully decorated/equipped. Trip Advisor reports list it as the number 1 hotel for a considerable time.
However the hotel is not central, as there is a hill to walk up to from the centre, which would take about 10 mins at a strolling pace from the main shopping area.
We like the SportsReisch hotel as, apart from it%26#39;s high standard of service :
* We can fall out of the Londoner pub after apre ski and straight in to our hotel across the road.( best Apre Ski by far in town - 4.30-7pm - live music - great atmosphere )
* There is a supermarket right across the road for those forgotten items
* The shops are not far away as are other hotels worth visiting for a drink, like the Zur Tenne.
* The tourist office is close by from where my wife goes on guided walks/snow shoe walks ( which are free, every day Mon - Fri)
If I can advise further e mail me :

Hi Hmwende
We should say that the Zur Tenne is a lovely hotel, which friends of ours have stayed at think it fantastic. And it is also centrally situated, close to shopes and bars etc .
Another hotel close to it is the Tefenbrunner, which we have stayed at - very good also for food and service - though we prefer the lighter colour of the wood work at the Zur Tenne,Sports Reisch and Kaiserhof.
Kind regards
