Hi,
I%26#39;m after some advice. My wife and I are keen skiers and have been to Schaldming and Zauchensee before skiing, in Feb %26#39;08 we are planning to hit the area again however we will have my wife%26#39;s parents along - they don%26#39;t ski.
The plan is that we will ski for 5 out of 7 days and they will potter about, I would like to be able to arrange 3 or 4 days of things for them to do (or at least suggest they do), we plan to take them to one of the ski resorts one day but I am at a bit of a loss otherwise. They are not particularly active (walking wise) but would enjoy sightseeing and the like. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also we have normally stayed closer to the ski resorts than Salzburg itself is the daily drive from Salzburg something I should worry about - I have done it once per holiday before and it has been fine but this will be more like a commute.
Thanks for any advice in advance.

Hello. Your commute to Schladming or Zauchensee will be quite a hike every day, I must admit. Especially in February when driving conditions might not be as easy as at other times of the year. The autobahn would make the journey quicker (maybe an hour to an hour and a half) as long as the weather is OK. Of course it%26#39;s impossible to predict the weather. I%26#39;m not a big expert on the ski resorts but would you consider skiing closer to Salzburg?
Could you give us an idea of what kind of things your parents in law like to do? Would they enjoy some excursions by coach, for instance? Would they be interested in something like a Sound of Music tour?

Have you thought of using the Salzburg Snow Shuttle?
Look here for info:

Driving time 60 to 100 minutes. The bus departs from the Ski area every day at 16:00, so back in Mirabell Square soon after 17:00 The following regions are serviced (depending on the snow conditions): Obertauern or Zauchensee, Gastein, Kitzbuhel, Schladming, Flachau, Leogang - Saalbach - Hinterglemm, Zell-am-See or Kitzsteinhorn. Alternatives to skiing and snowboarding are available upon request such as tobogganing %26amp; sleigh rides, swimming %26amp; skating, cross country ski or simply a leisurely walk through the picturesque landscape.
Tickets for the %26quot;Salzburg Snow Shuttle%26quot; are available from Salzburg Information, the information offices and at many hotels and travel agencies for a standard price of € 13.00 (incl. VAT) per person.
Reservations must be made by the evening prior (before 6 pm) to the desired skiing date at your hotel or by phone: 0662/871712.
For other activities we do offer the following advice:
Toboggan / Sledge / Luge / Treneo - to walk up and slide down can be fun and is possible every day, but for the more dedicated there are special facilities at Kitzbuhel (Wednesdays) and Schladming (Thursdays).
Sleigh rides - are a great way to experience the winter scenery, best booked in advance. Even one day in advance can help secure the booking. Sleigh ride price typically 70 Euro for a sleigh ride for up to 7 guests. Available at all destinations, but may need some connecting transport.
Walking - good at all destinations
Swimming - is available on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. From these, Tuesday at Bad Hof Gastein has the best and most convenient facilities, with sauna and massage too. Swim, sauna %26amp; massage are also available in downtown Salzburg at the Paracelsus Health Spa.
