New years Eve Vienna

Hi,

i will be in Vienna for new years with a friend, m/f both 22.

I have read a bit on this website...

www.wien.info/article.asp?IDArticle=16360

but just wondering if you have to pay anything to see the dj%26#39;s, and if there is just bars in the street?? Is it very family oriented or lots of party goers?

Other wise are we better off buying a ticket to a club event or something like that?

cheers from oz!!

The entertainment at the many open air venues is free. Many places to choose - with almost every type of music.

Many streets in the city center are closed to traffic forming one big party area- many just walk from one place to another.

The city supplies maps and a list of events at each venue.

You will find many kiosks offering this info.

Festivities start in early afternoon and continue into early morning-

Many families earlier in the evening then 18-30 ? party people later - but you will find all ages.

You weill find all types of food and drink for sale on the streets- filled with small stands.

You can buy a ticket for a club or bar - usually expensive - you may wish to enjoy the other events.

thanks for that...

is alcohol sold on the streets in the city?

|||

YES !!! Loads of it ... :-) Beer, Sekt (like champagne...) wine, punsch, Glühwein, shots ....

But you can also bring your own if you prefer that, just be awre that you then might have some troubles getting into e.g. bars or other places with it.

Greets, Fritz

thanks,

sounds like it is just better to roam the city and see everything rather than be stuck in the one place. :)
