Hi,
We are going to rent a car on Oct 26 from Linz to Salzburg.
Oct 26 is a holiday. How is the transportation on that day ? Will any road be closed ? Should we take the train instead?
Then, we will drive the car from Salzburg to Vienna on Oct28. Is there any recommended route we should take ? Anything we need to be careful?
We will be stay in Vienna during Oct 28 - Nov 1.
Is there any highly recommended Orchestra and Opera ? we want to watch both performances.
Is there any Halloween party or event we can join ?
Thanks for any advices you may have.

Look carefully at renting a car. It is not needed in Salzburg or Vienna.
An expensive liability to park.
It is probably only preferred if you wish to see other areas of Austria - example Lake District- Danube Valley.
look to the austrian rail website for train schedule and costs.
www.oebb.at
Linz- salzburg is not far and on a main rail line.
Vienna- Salzburg about 2 1/2 hours
I
The october 26th like most any day for travel.
If you do decide to drive- obey speed limits- especially in the area near Linz . Normal autobahn speed is 130- in Linz area ( road tax sticker) It probably will but check for it.
In Vienna
The Vienna State Opera
www.staatsoper.at
features Electra with Agnes Baltsa on 10/31.
good tickets still available . you can order on website or phone and pick them up at the Box office.
less formal - the Volksoper
www.volksper.at
For concerts - best place is the Musikverein
www.musikverein.at
the Cleveland Orchestra ( a very good orchestra) has several concerts during your visit.
tickets available - again see the website to purchase.
Halloween is not a big thing in Austria - very little celebrations.
