Winter Season in Austria

I am 22 and me my friend are planning to live in Austria for the ski season....any help with ideas and plans would be appreciated

We want a great atmosphere with friendly people who don%26#39;t mind

Americans and don%26#39;t mind us speaking English.

I would prefer it to not be extremly crowded but want a great mountain that offers everything from piste, off piste, park skiiing to great pubs as well.

Most important we don%26#39;t have jobs and are low on money? A place to stay or great area with great location to the mountain is key.

Also how hard will it be to find work as Americans?

Thanks for all your help anyones thoughts on past experiences is greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Eric

My advice would be to stay in the US this winter for work and skiing.

I assume that you have a US passport . This will permit a maximum of a 90 day stay without a visa. I would think your described situation will not make it easy to obtain any visa.

How hard to find work ?

Many look for jobs in ski resorts in the winter. Those residents of the EU can do this legally. Many ,especially from eastren countries are very willing to work for relatively low wages. Thus your job opportunities are very limited at best. Why would someone employ you illegally over someone who is legal and will work for a low wage.

Thus a legal job- almost impossible.

You will be looking for work without speaking the language too.

The cost of housing and food is often very expensive in a ski resort environment. especially as you descibe your utopian resort.

Many employers offer housing as a part of employment. However these are mostly reliable employers who probably do not wish to have a possible problem with officials if they employ undocumented workers.
