hi,
a group of 9 of us are planning a week%26#39;s skiing / snowboarding in austria in january. our group is very mixed including complete beginners, intermediates, one advanced and an 8 year old (who has some experience).
so we%26#39;re ideally looking for somewhere that%26#39;s equally good for all levels, child friendly and with some apres ski but not too crazy.
...a tall order!?
any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Many resorts in Austria will provide what you need.
You will see various opinions about favorite places here.
It would help if you mention the gateway city you plan to use -assume you arrive by plane- Salzburg - Innsbruck- Munich to assist in recommendsations.
several places not far from Salzburg - all have varied terrain for all abilities- some night life- varied accomodations - ski schools- etc.
and not mentioned too often here.
Flachau.

Obertauern has the highest altitude for best snow possibilities- but all 3 have extensive snowmaking and usually good snow conditions-
From Innsbruck about 100 kilometers- 60 miles -
a nice family type place with nearby villages is Serfaus

nice ski circus- good ski schools and varied nightlife- again accomodations of all types-
high elevation also for good snow. and varied terrain for all levels. some nice open slopes good for snow boarders- I think they have some snow boarder only runs .
