After my last question and lots of useful replies I thought I would ask again!. We are a family of 4 arriving in Vienna on 15 December and having a bit of trouble finding accommodation in a family room. Most hotels we have tried have only up to triple rooms. We would like to stay in the city centre as we would like to do the usual tourist stuff. Any suggestions?

You do not mention price range-
one moderate price place 120-130 euro with breakfast for 4 is
Hotel Bleckmann- a 3 star place on a main street - just outside the Ringstrasse - easy walk to many things and public transport nearby.
Several rooms for 4
you can also do a serch for quad rooms on the Viennna Tourist site
www.info.wien.at
under hotels then search- just enter dates of stay and list quad room.
This is a very busy time , also a weekend,in Vienna
