Hi,
Myself and my husband will travel from Vienna to Budapest one way.
What is the most economical way to do this?
Thank you very much!

please use the search for this as there are many threads with the same question

Bus is the cheapest way -
28 euros ?
but less frequent service than train
for bus
www.eurolines.at
for train www.oebb.at
about 40 euro
|||
Thank you.
|||
The bus is € 28 bought on the spot... the train is € 33,60 (flexible ticket). Travel time is about the same... but the train is definately much more comfortable and the usual way to go.
|||
We will take the train.
Thank you.
|||
Is there a price listed on the train site provided?
|||
Yes, but only in the german version.

It is a good idea to purchase the train ticket a day or so in advance and to purchase it at the train station.

I just took the train from Budapest - Vienna last week. It was enjoyable, and very cheap at only $35 Canadian for the 3 hour journey. I bought my ticket from the Keleti train station in Budapest. Remember to buy your ticket at the office near train platform #6 (not the general Budapest ticket office below the street level). We wasted 15 minutes in line there.
