trains from Sazburg to munich

Hi All

I wondered if someone could share their knowledge with me.

I am travelling from Salzburg to Munich on the 7th November and not returning to Salzburg until the 9th November. There are 8 adults travelling, i have seen reference to the Bayern ticket but does our timescale allow purchase of this. It will be after 9am for both train journeys to and from Munich. Are there any group tickets we can buy, or should we purchase 2 bayern tickets ( 4 people on each) for the journey Salzburg to Munich 7th, and the same for the return on the 9th Munich to Salzburg, please advise whats best, price etc, where you can purhase, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I would think that 2 Bayern-Tickets each day would be your best bet. We used two Bayern Tickets for our family of four to travel from Regensburg to Salzburg and then Salzburg to Munich on different days. Four people for 27 euros seems a pretty decent price to me.

Still, I would recommend posing your question on the German Forum. The Bayern-Ticket is offered by the German Die Bahn (DB Ticket Machine in Salzburg) rather than the ÖBB (Austrian Train System). There are a couple real experts regarding the DB system on the German Forum. They would be more familiar with special packages than I . They might know a round-trip ticket that would be a bargain.

Regards, Gary
