Ice Hockey in Salzburg

A friend of ours who is a very keen ice hockey fan has recommended that we try and catch an ice hockey games whilst in Salzburg for a few days. As keen sports fans this seemed like a good idea and I think I have managed to work out that they have a home game on Oct 23rd which is when we will be there. Does anyone have any advise about getting tickets? Can we just turn up on the night or do we need to book in advane? Is the rink near to the centre or on the outskirts of the city. We are staying near to the main train station.

Hello,

there is a ticket hotline:

0662 630752.

I think from the UK you would dial 0043 662 630752 (missing out the zero of the Salzburg code). I%26#39;m sorry I don%26#39;t know if tickets are available on the night.

The arena is at the Volksgarten a few minutes walk from the centre. You would easily be able to get a bus from the bus station which is right outside the train station. Ask at your hotel which bus you need.

I know the number 7 stops outside Volksgarten but you need to catch it at Hanuschplatz in the old city and make sure you get on it going towards Salzburg Sud and not the other way. I%26#39;m sure other buses go past it too.

Liz.

I have emailed the rink and got a response within 1 hour and now have two tickets for 23rd October which I am collecting the day before. Very easy and excellent service. Lets hope for a good game.

We walked by the rink in Salzburg one night when a game was going on. Our accommodation was in the area; we didn%26#39;t know there was a hockey arena nearby, and we were wondering why there were so many cars parked everywhere. As we got closer (like, within a block of the building), we could hear the banging and cheering and were wondering what on earth it was... we could not believe the noise! I had no idea that they were such *avid* hockey fans there; it must have been deafening inside the arena. So, I%26#39;m sure it will be quite an experience... enjoy!
