Vienna to Budapest by train

Anyone knows how much it costs a ticket from Vienna to Budapest and back ? I%26#39;ve been in the Austrian Rail web site but can%26#39;t find information about prices.

Is the scenery between Vienna and Budapest worthwile ?

Thanks

Normal price one way is about 39 euro Vienna - Budapest . Round trip is one way price times 2 - no discount.Seems often are some special prices especially if you buy a ticket in Budapest.

Scenery is nothing special in my opinion.

Standard fare Vienna-Budapest is € 33,60. If you have any european rail discount card, showing the %26quot;RAILPLUS%26quot; logo, you%26#39;ll get 25% discount. Sometimes there are offers at € 19, which sell out quickly and can not be booked online.

It%26#39;s not really scenic... plain countryside.

Information about the Sparschiene (€ 19) offer:

We travelled on the train from Vienna to Budapest two weeks ago.

We booked tickets the day before at the station and got the %26quot;Sparcheine%26quot; tickets which cost 39 Euros return for each person. These are the discount tickets and have a %26quot;no refund /no change%26quot; limitation.

Going on a Monday from Vienna the train was nearly empty but coming back on a Friday it was almost full. In both cases it was 30 minutes late arriving.

The scenery in Austria seemed fairly flat whereas in Hungary it was more undulating. Make sure you have your passport handy as you will be asked for it as you approach/cross the border.

Thanks ! You%26#39;ve been very helpful .

I%26#39;ll be back soon with some more questions .

We took the Budapest - Vienna train, bought the single ticket in Budapest for 15 euro pp. (we were surprised how cheap it was)

my husband and i traveled from vienna to budapest by train last june. to be totally honest, there is no scenery in between to enjoy on the train. also, i too had trouble booking the ticket w/ the austrian rail website. i ended up calling to buy the tickets. budapest didn%26#39;t meet our expectations either.
