Lessons for beginners

Hi all,

My boyfriend and I are hoping to go skiing to Austria in February, about 5 days, will be driving there from Germany. I have skied before but am terrible and will need lessons. Some people have suggested St. Anton in other posts. I would like somewhere where there is good après ski but also somewhere where it wont be too expensive, accommodation wise. In terms of hiring equipment and clothing, we will need to do so. Are lesson very expensive? HELP!!

There are many different places you could choose as it is possible to find cheap accomodation everywhere, but of course there are areas which are more popular and posh than others - like the Arlberg area and Kitzbuehel, which also shows in the prices in general.

Ski rental is no problem, but usually you cannot rent clothes...you might get in touch with the ski schools in advance and ask if they can provide clothes as well.

You also have to be quick as in February there will be school holidays in Austria and many people will go for skiing, which means that many hotels and guest houses will be fully booked then.

I will post some recommendations and links to skiing schools as well, where you will also find the prices.

- St. Anton in the Arlberg area

(popluar, but more affordable than Lech and Zürs), nice village with very good skiing area and good apres-ski and located in the high mountains, so it is very safe according snow:

-Kitzbuehel (my personal favorite)

is one of the most popular and posh places, but also more expensive, not so safe concerning snow, but the town is really nice and offers a lot of choices of restaurants, shops, pubs, (very good apres-ski and night life)...but still is cozy and beautiful:

-Obertauern

small village in the high mountains, safe concerning snow, good apres-ski as well:

-Saalbach

also a small village in a good skiing area with good apres-ski:
