Honeymoon - Restaurant for New Year's Eve

Hi,

I%26#39;m spending my honeymoon in Vienna - arriving on Sunday 30 Dec and leaving on Friday 4 Jan.

Can anyone recommend a good, and atmospheric, restaurant for New Years Eve? Looking for something in a medium price range - serving either traditional Austrian food or European. Would also be good for the venue to be romantic and have an interesting/unique interior design.

If you speak of an interesting / unique interior design, do you favorise a more modern style or something very traditional ?

Rathauskeller is a new Years eve classic, as its in a nice location right in the historic cellars of the City Hall, and at midnight you are gonna be in the middle of waltzing mayhem outside the front door. very traditional, very popular, but a bit crowded on New Years eve.

On the modern side, there are places like this, which has received many good critics and is defiently a place worth having a look at just for the design:

Its near enough to the city center that you can easily take a walk at night to join the parties after dinner, but still not too near to it that you cannot dine in peace.

Just wherever you aim at, bear in mind that Vienna has the biggest New Years Eve celebrations in Middle Europe, with hundreds of thousands or up to a million people celebrating in the old town at midnight, so the klonger you wait, the smaller is the range to choose from, and expect every place to be packed to bits and very busy ....

First of all you should make a reservation in advance whereever xou go as all restaurants will be crowded and most of them will have special New Year´s Eve dinners.

I personally would recommend Plachutta. This is a very high quality restaurant with very typical Viennese food. I know they have a special dinner on New Year%26#39;s Eve in two shifts, the first one is earlier and you have to leave at a certain time. The second lasts until after midnight. The prices for what they offer are reasonable, but who cares if this is your honeymoon... There are three Plachutta restaurants in Vienna, the one in the city center is in the Wollzeile.
