Hi,
I am looking at booking a surprise weekend break for myself and my husband (mid 30%26#39;s) to Salzburg.
I would like advise on a romantic hotel in the city centre if possible.
We like to be able to walk around to see all the sights.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks....

Hotel Elefant is a nice hotel right in the centre of the old city. It is in a quiet lane but all the tourist sites are on the doorstep.

I%26#39;ve stayed at Sacher for a very romantic weekend in March. It%26#39;s a grand old luxury hotel right by the river. The historic center, which is rather small and very walkable, is just across the pedestrian bridge.
We particularly liked the sauna and steam room which we always had to ourselves, the breathtaking view from the breakfast room and the surprisingly good rate booked via their website.

I stayed in the Hotel Bristol for a weekend with my husband some years ago and loved it - very romantic:

My husband and I stayed at the Goldener Hirsch last June and it was wonderful. It is located right in the center of everything. We walked everywhere. This hotel is considered a starwood luxury hotel and you can find it on the starwood website. I booked a regular standard room( a little more expensive than the other hotels we stayed in Europe) and when we arrived we were upgraded to a suite. The hotel is composed of a couple of different buildings from the 1400%26#39;s I believe. It is really nice, the breakfast was wonderful(included in the room rate). I am particular and research everything before I book. When I return to Salzburg I will stay at the Hirsch again!
