snow in salzburg

hi can anyone give me some advice

im thinking of taking my son and daughter age 8 and 13

to salzburg for a 3 or 4 day break...via jet 2 .as i cant afford to go to lapland.

the main reason is they want to play in real deep snow.

so and or info would really help make this break special..

whens the best time of the year to go so they can play in deep snow.

wheres the best area to stay to be near shops markets ect..

can anyone recomend anything else to do whilst there

sorry for the lame questions but this is my first short break away

in europe ....

thankyou all in advance

Its unlikely to get real deep snow in Salzburg as its at a lower altitude to the sorounding mountains. You may like consider one of the ski resorts further south where even if you are non skiers you will find that theres plenty to do, you will find most resorts have toboganing runs and Ice rinks.

Schladming or Bad Gastein would be a good starting points to research and they about an hour by train away from Salzburg.

Another place to consier is Zell am See. This is about an hour by train from Salzburg and is on a lake with fabulous mountains all around.
