Week before Christmas in Salzberg

Hi

We are planning a trip to Salzberg just before Christmas and wondered whether it is likely to be snowing at that time of year?

Will the Christmas markets still be well stocked that close to Christmas or is it better to come earlier in December?

Finally , does Salzberg have an outdoor ice rink - my daughter LOVES them !

THANKS

There is usually ice skating in Mozartplatz during the Christmas Market season.

It%26#39;s anyone%26#39;s guess about the snow. We went to Salzburg in May this year and had snow, but went to the markets in December 2004 and didn%26#39;t get any!!!!! I would say the later you go the more likely it is to be snowing.

We went early December so I don%26#39;t know whether the markets would be well stocked or not later in the season, but knowing the great efficiency of Austrian traders I%26#39;m guessing they will be.

The shop that Auntykath refers to is called Christmas in Salzburg and is at the top of Judengasse. Across the lane is another shop called Easter in Salzburg.

We spent Christmas 2004 in Salzburg and it was wonderful - snow, ice sculptures, ice rink with some very good skaters to watch, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, Christmas markets on with plenty of stock - fab Xmas decorations to bring home - real Christmas card scenes everywhere. Of course it was busy - and lots of Brits about, we seem to like Salzburg. We went on a trip to their Lake District which was good - trips seemed to be on, even on Xmas Day. It is an affluent town and you feel completely safe which is nice.

Hi,

We will be traveling the week before Christmas with our two children (6 and 1) and was wondering if you could recommend where to stay. Although we don%26#39;t want to spend a fortune we would like very good accommodations close to everything.

Thank you,

Mary
