My husband and I will be in Salzburg on 12/19/07-12/21/07. I would like to see some christmas shows or concerts during this time. Are there any special concerts that someone could recommend or point me in the right direction? Will the Marionette Theatre have any special performances during the days we will be in Salzburg?
We would also like to go on a sleigh ride at night, Nighttime tobogganing expedition, or hike by lantern light. Are there any places in or around Salzburg that might have these activities? Would I be able to book an evevning sleigh ride in advace online?
Thanks for your help!

Hello, here is a link describing some of the events during the Advent period in Salzburg:
polzer.com/english/adventweihnachten.html…
Included in this are Advent concerts in the Salzburg fortress which might be nice. I%26#39;m not sure that the marionettes will be performing during your stay. They are on tour in the US during November and part of December. I think they begin performances again after Christmas but you could check this by emailing the theatre:
info@marionetten.at
There are always lots of concerts going on in Salzburg so take a look at this link too:

I don%26#39;t know much about the sleigh rides or toboganning but here are links that might help you:

salzburgerland.com/eng/…direktlink.html
Hope some of this is helpful.

Thank you so much for the information! Very helpful!!
I have a question about the location of Salzburgerland. I am afraid I don%26#39;t know much about it. I went to the site but I don%26#39;t know where the towns are located with in Salzburgerland. I found out they have sleigh rides at night in Flzmoos, Lungau, Rauirs Valley, and Woflgangsee Region. Which one is the closest region to Salzburg. Could this be done as a daytrip? What%26#39;s the distance?
Thanks again for your time!

Hello again,
Salzburgerland is one of Austria%26#39;s states and so covers a very large area. Salzburg is its capital city. Salzburgerland itself is then broken down into smaller regions. The closest of the places you mention is the Salzkammergut which can be reached very quickly from Salzburg itself. We can drive to Lake Wolfgang in thirty to forty minutes (although my husband drives very fast). The other locations you mention are much further than Salzkammergut but could still be done in a day, especially if they are organised trips that you are thinking of going on.
From what I can see these are approximate distances from Salzburg city:
Filzmoos - 50 miles
Lungau - 65 miles (Lungau is a region within Salzburgerland so it would depend whereabouts in that region you were going)
Rauris - 55 miles
Wolfgangsee - 25 miles.
Hope this helps.
