Cost of Train Fare

Hi there

I am thinking of going on a family holiday to Zell am see. Does anybody know what the cost of traveling by train from Salzburg to Zell Am See would be and how long would this take.

Hi Pat,

Zell am See is great. You%26#39;ll have a ball. We got the train from Salzburg to Zell this year. It was a very straightforward journey, very efficient, clean and comfortable.

I think the cost was about 12/13 Euro for our return trip and it took about an hour and a half.

If you are planning on going from Salzburg Airport straight to Zell there are direct buses (approx 1 hour). More info available on Airport website....

As you%26#39;re travelling from Dublin, I%26#39;m presuming you will be flying Ryanair to Salzburg. Unless the time table changes next year, there is one only one Ryanair flight arriving approx 6.30pm. This is too late to catch the last busfrom the airport to Zell.

There is however a good bus connection between the airport and the train station, every 15 minutes, I think, and it runs quite later. On times this year, your train to Zell, as far as I remember, will depar about 9.00pm and arrive in Zell at 10.50pm approx. This train requires a change of train during the trip (at least it did in September this year.).

In march 2006 the cost was 12 euros each way and 10 euros to get from the airport to the train station.

What about children below 6 years?

Children below 6 years (so one day before their 6th. birthday) travel for free (maximum of 2 children with one paying person older than 6).

Youngsters 6-14 (so one day before their 15th birthday) pay the half fare.

does anybody know if i arrive at 21.50 into salzburg can i get a bus or train to zell am see at this time of the night?
