Vienna state opera - ticket's???

Will be in Vienna for four day trip in November. The state opera is sold out the dates we%26#39;ll be available to go. I%26#39;m sure i could refi mortgage and get tix through a broker, but does anyone have an idea about buying will-call no-show tickets there or other suggestions?

You can find tickets in ticket offices. I am sure they have available ones, because while I see in the Statoper site, the day they open the sale, tickets are already sold , I check to offices websites and there are a lot available, maybe the buy them in advance. I bought tickets from www.viennaticketoffice.com for La Traviata on December.Of course you must consider an about 20% overcharge on the ticket%26#39;s category price. Some of them charge also VAT, but I found the web above has the best price.I paid 82e instead 65 the opera%26#39;s price. Good luck.

You have several alternatives -

standing room - goes on sale 80 minutes before the performance - very cheap way to see the Opera. but good views and sound.

Just several euro.

Check with the box office as soon as you arrive in Vienna and also on the day of the performance- many times tickets become available at regular prices.

Especially single tickets can be purchased this way - more trouble to find 2 seats together-

Check with hotel front desk or Concierge- they can often find tickets at a reasonable premium-

last resort ticket brokers offices - you pay with big money.

When exactly are you planning to go? Tickets only go on sale 1 month ahead of the date of the performance, at 8am (weekdays) or 9am (weekends) at box office and 1 hour later (9/10am) via internet. So performances after 24th of November are not on sale yet.

Anyway, there are some very popular performances in November, where it will be harder to get tickets: the new production of Pique Dame is highly anticipated, Tosca on 3rd has a great cast and Norma too (Norma is not staged, but a concert).

There are several ticket agencies in Vienna providing tickets for sold-out performances typically at 20 per cent surcharge, sometimes the surcharge can be somewhat heftier, for example for a new production opening night or very famous singers. Many of these agencies have good websites, even in english, as a previous poster suggested.

I suggest checking back online frequently, often more tickets become available unexpectedly. Also, do try to call the opera%26#39;s own telephone-sales, maybe they can help you (+43 1 513 1 513). If they can%26#39;t call again after a couple of days.

If you%26#39;re going for Tosca on 3rd or some of the sold-out Pique Dame or Norma performances, you don%26#39;t need to feel bad about paying the 20 per cent surcharge, those are some of the most highly demanded tickets of the season.
