Hi. This will be my first time to Vienna. My husband and I will stay for 2 days on Dec 28 and 29. Given the limited time, we know it is impossible to tour the whole city. If we have to choose between the Schönbrunn Palace and the Imperial Palace (Hofburg), which one is more worth a visit? Any %26#39;must-see%26#39; places for our short stay? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Very hard question without knowing %26quot; Lkes and Dislikes %26quot; of the visitor.
Geneally it seems that most visitors enjoy Schönbrunn Palace more than the Hofburg.
While the gardens at Schönbrunn will offer little , the general surroundings park, Zoo walkways are very nice.
The rooms in Schönbrunn much more varied and in several different styles- more colorful .
While it takes more time to get to Schönbrunn it is worth the time in my opinion. Also worth a visit there is the collection of carriages in one of the out buildings to the Palace. . A restaurant too to offer some rest and food.
www.schoenbrunn.at
will provide much information.
Please note if you take Subway ( U Bahn ) U-4 to Schönbrunn you must walk about 10 minutes to the Palace entrance- in bad weather a long walk-
alternate way there is to take the U-3 to Westbahnhof , then streetcar#68 directly to the front of the palace grounds.
The Hofburg is in the town center - easy to reach from most places- near by is the Treasury, Spanish Riding School, Albertina Museum across thr Ringstrasse is the Museum Quartier and the Fine Arts Museum- thus a ful days sightseeing within 300 meters.
especially good if weather is bad.
If you wish to see the nuseums- then perhaps the Hofburg is a good choice.
look to the Vienna Tourist website for good information on sightseeing

Thank you very much for your advice. Well, I guess it will depend on the weather, we%26#39;ll give it a bit more thoughts.

Hello Vertical, I would also appreciate your advice on the booking of concert tickets: I read that there is a classical concert at the Musikverein on Dec 28 %26amp; 29, which we are interested. What would be the best way to purchase the tickets? Do you know if the Musikeverein%26#39;s website accept overseas bookings? Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

No problem to purchase on- line -just your information with credit card needed.
you can find your tickets at the box office opening about 1 hour before the performance.
Enjoy- the Musikverein is a perfect and beautiful venue with good acoustics most everywhere excepting those seats just behind the orchestra.
Worth a visit just to see the buildng.
