Hi,
I am looking to buy 2 tickets from Innsbruck to Munich for December 29. I checked on the websites of both Oebb and Bahn.de and found that there are 2 trains (the fast one and the scenic one) and am okay with taking either. However, I am unable to find an option that will let me buy tickets online and print them out here. Is this option unavailable, or am I simply looking in the wrong place? Could someone please help me out?
Thanks a lot

You do not have to buy the tickets in advance - here in Austria (and in Germany as well) we usually just go to the station and buy the tickets right before boarding the train. Trains can usually not be sold out. So do not worry!

Thanks Ulrike!

Just walk to the station, buy the tickets from the ticket counter (the ticket machines do only sell tickets for travel within Austria), all credit cards accepted. Usually no need for a seat reservation (€ 3,50 per seat) on the long-distance trains (IC,EC), on the regional trains you even can%26#39;t reserve a seat.
If you want to go the scenic way, enter VIA Mittelwald in the timetable-query. It takes about 2:50 h. The faster but less scenic trains via Kufstein do it in about 1:50 h.

Thanks Robbi.
As a general rule, does this apply to all trips within Austria? We are planning a day trip to Semmering from Vienna - should I buy that one at the station too? Do we need to go well ahead of time in order to ensure that we get seats together?

Yes, it is a general rule. It will be enough if you arrive about 15-20 minutes before the train leaves.
Just a question:
Will you go to Semmering for skiing?
Because there is nothing much to see there, although the train ride through the mountainous area is very scenic.

Thanks Ulrike.
Re: Semmering, I had heard so much about the train ride, that I thought it might be worth a trip. I dont think we will ski but just go have lunch (or a walk) and come back - do you think that might not be worth it?
Since we dont have to make advance reservations, I think we will probably take a last minute decision on that.
Thanks once again

I would recommend going further to Graz for a day trip - the train ride will will take you across the Semmering.
Graz is a very beautiful historic town (second largest city in Austria):

%26gt;As a general rule, does this apply to all trips within Austria?
Austria, Germany and Switzerland, yes.
%26gt;We are planning a day trip to Semmering from Vienna - should I buy that one at the station too?
Yes - there is no difference where you buy it.
%26gt;Do we need to go well ahead of time in order to ensure that we get seats together?
When you buy tickets has no difference on your seats. You can reserve seats (on long-distance trains IC, EC) for an additional fee, but most people don´t do that.
On local trains there are simply no reservations. You sit where there is space. (99% of all cases it is the same on IC/EC trains)
