Hello,
I will be in Vienna for the last week in December. I can%26#39;t drink regular coffe or tea, it has to be decaf. Does anyone know if decafe coffee or tea is difficult to get in the cafes in Vienna? I do plan to bring my own tea. I don%26#39;t have a problem where I live about telling the wait staff about no caffeine, and then having them bring me a cup of hot water for my tea, but I don%26#39;t know if that would be frowned on in the cafes in Vienna. Any answers to this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!........Janice

Decaff coffee is no problem at all, just ask for %26quot;Koffeinfrei%26quot; of %26quot;Cafe HAAG%26quot;, thats the most poular brand and kind of generlaised for all brands of decaff coffee.
The decaff tea thing is fascinating, do you mean decaff. black (English) tea ? Thats exists ?
In general, the tea culture in Vienna has improved a lot over the last years, nearly all better cafe´s now have a big variety of teas, so you should defintely find something, especially during the winter, there are lovely seasonal teas, that smell from winter and christmas, like oranges, vanilla, clovers ... search for %26quot;Kaminfeuer%26quot;, %26quot;Christkindltee%26quot;, %26quot;Weihnachtstee%26quot; or similar on the menue, or simply ask the waiter/waitress. Or you can always go for herbal teas, fruit teas or green or rooibos teas, which are all naturally free of coffeine, or try one of the wonderfull hot chocolate variations .... Don´t be afraid, you will find something tasty, even without your own teabag.
Some of the best adresses for tea (buying and drinking) in Vienna is DEMMERS, on Mölkerbastei 5, or JÄGER in Operngasse 6 or HIGHTEA in Paniglgasse 17, HAAS %26amp; HAAS on Stephansplatz or SCHÖNBICHLER in Wollzeile 4, or the general heaven for all kinds of food and drink lovers, the MEINL AM GRABEN at the end of the pedestrian Zone on Graben, Viennas answers to Harrods food court.
