Hello
I will be visiting Vienna for the first time this coming weekend - 11/8-11/12. I will be staying at the Ambassador hotel
What would the best way to get to hotel from the airport?
Is the hotel close (walking distance) to the city center?
Any suggestions for nightlife - night clubs, etc?
Thanks,
DB

Your hotel is in the very center of Vienna- within easy walking distance to much sightseeing , restaurants , shopping etc.
The best way to the hotel is by dedicated taxi transfer.
several firms offer this service by reservation.
They will wait for you in the Arrivals hal, assist with luggage , a short walk to the car and then 20- 30 minutes to the entrance of the hotel.
27-28 euro

You can also reach the city center via , train and bus- perhaps less costly but after a long flight, heavy luggage this is the best way.
At night all forms from Opera to Rock- Jazz
All forms of night life not far away - area known as the Bermuda Triangle 10 minutes walk - many bars , clubs etc.
Jazz - Porgy and Bess
If you look for gourmet dining - the Ambassador has - Morwalds-
many other places in just a few minutes walk.
look to the vienna tourist website for choices

The hotel Anbassador is in one of the best locations you can get in Vienna - right on Kaerntnerstrasse (a main pedestrian shopping street) in the historic city center:

From the airport:
Take The CAT (City Airport train) or the S-Bahn from the airport to Wien-Mitte/Landstrasse and there change into the orange subway line U3 in direction of Ottakring and go 2 stops until Stephansplatz - then it will take you a 5 minutes walk to the hotel.
About nightlife - some recommendations (I do not know about your preferences, so I try to offer some choice):

Ulrike has given lots of links already,
%26quot;Club Passage%26quot; seems to be very trendy at the moment (www.sunshine.at),
the %26quot;Juicy%26quot; club in %26quot;Volksgarten%26quot; also does mainly HipHop and Rnb on Saturdays, (www.juicyjuicy.at), starts 23:00 open end,
%26quot;U4%26quot; is another legendary club, which has seen stars like Elton John and many others coming there for after-parties, they have %26quot;pleasure (dance / house) on Friday and %26quot;Behave!%26quot;, a disco and house club on Saturday (www.u-4.at),
%26quot;Club Empire%26quot; in the bermuda triangle, Viennas so-called amusement district, has %26quot;Starlight%26quot; on Thursday (70´s, 80´s, 90´s, cheap drink offers) %26quot;Funky Disco%26quot; on Friday (hits, %26quot;sexy house%26quot;, RnB) on Saturday or a %26quot;Hustler Party%26quot; on Saturday (house, RnB, party classics and eehm, women) very populatr place, but aminly with younger crowd, good spot though if you like big very modern places (www.empire-club.at)
A special recommendation for Sunday nights is the Kaiko-club, they have a party called %26quot;Shangri-La%26quot; its € 19 in and from then on, every drink in there is for free, beers, shots, cocktails, doesn´t matter ...starts 20:00 until approx. 04:00, mainly students, mixed music with a slightly asian / arabian touch, very nice club (www.kaiko.at)
Have fun !
Greets, Fritz
