Hallo,
My friends and I are planning a trip to Germany (mainly the Bavarian area) and Austria from Nov 18 till Nov 26 and would love some feedback on our tentative IT as below:
Day 1:
~2pm arrival in Frankfurt
- take train (52mins) to Heidelberg and explore briefly
- sleep Heidelberg
Q: What are must-sees in Heidelberg considering the short duration of time we%26#39;ll be there? Any inn recommendations?
Day 2:
- take train (3hrs) to Wurzburg
- explore Wurburg
- take train (1hr) to Rothenburg
- explore Rothenburg (Night Watchman tour at 8pm)
- sleep Rothenburg
Q: What are must-sees in Wurzburg and inn recommendations? We%26#39;re basically doing the Romantic Road but only very briefly since we can only allocate two days to exploring it inclusive of Fussen for the Neuschwanstein Castle. So we%26#39;ve tentatively decided on Wurzburg, Rothenburg and Fussen/Schwangau. But if there%26#39;s other better places to visit, do please advise us.
Day 3:
- train (4hrs) to Fussen
- explore village and Neuschwanstein Castle
- train (2hrs) to Munich
- sleep Munich
Day 4:
- explore Munich
- sleep Munich
Day 5:
- train (1.5hrs) to Garmisch
- cog wheel train-cable car up to Zugspitze
- train to Salzburg (3.25hrs) possible stopover to explore Innsbruck)
- 8pm Mozart Dinner Concert at Stiftskeller St. Peter restaurant
- sleep Salzburg
Day 6:
- explore Salzburg
- evening train (3.5hrs) to Vienna
- sleep Vienna
Day 7:
- explore Vienna
Q: Any performance recommendations in Vienna? We%26#39;re looking for something that%26#39;s really %26quot;native%26quot; to Vienna and not just a random performance that can be seen elsewhere in the world. Vienna Boys Choir, Spanish Riding School would have been nice but both are not performing during the time we%26#39;ll be there. We were also looking forward to watching the Salzburg Marionette Theatre but we seem to be out of luck too with our dates...
Day 8:
- explore Vienna
Day 9:
- 2pm flight back to SanFo/Tokyo
Thanks very much =)

The main Heidelberg site is the castle and walking around the old town. The best views of the castle can be seen on the other side of the river.
Personally, I%26#39;d leave out Wurzburg to spend more time in Munich. The main attraction in Wurzburg is its palace and you can find similar architecture in Munich and much more.
