You know the weather is never predictable - and this area as well as Kitzbuehel is on a lower elevation as others....so it is less sure concerning snow...
The areas which are well known for very good snow coverage are the Arlberg area, Ischgl and Obertauern (because they are located in the higher mountains) as well as all those skiing resorts which a glacier nearby, like Zell am See.

Also look here for more infos concerning elevation, lifts, slopes of the different skiing areas:

mrman.... Why book in advance since this is the low season? I always go skiing in January/March but since I am able to choose the time according to weathe/snowr condition and driving there it is of course different. Let me know how you plan to get to Austria, where and for how long. I know your budget is £450 for HB, ski-pass and transfer, I suppose this is from airport/train to hotel or resort and I will see if I can come-up with a suggestion plan. Any more information about your preferences will help. It is like Ulrike says, you may or may not have good snow conditions at lower resorts.

thanx hiker
i agree with u to wait. but if we went we%26#39;d be flying to salzburg then coach to resort. any date would be possible, just thought maybe less hustle as all schools are back in jan.i know its difficult to judge whether or not they%26#39;ll be snow especially after last year, thats why last season we went to winter park USA . and i quite fancied canada this year but with only 2 of us skiing you get hit big with room supplements.but hey europe takes some beating if theres good snow.anymore advice would certainly be appreciated.
thanks again

Which price range are you thinking of per person/night?
Maybe I can help you with further recommendations!

ulrike
my price range would probably be around £300-£400 each flight/transfers/hotel half board if possible, this would be for europe.
not a lover of france not alpine enough and is very expensive to dine out. my partner went to st wolfgang she said it was fantastic, so i think austria would offer the best ski hol for us, with its alpine runs and friendly people. my other choice was canada id expect to pay £400-£550 room only, but its a 10hr flight then 2hr transfer and ive heard austria is just as scenic.
any advice would be more than welcome.
thanks again ulrike
