I will be staying at the Hotel Imperial next week (business/travel) and have read mostly good reviews. Any suggestions/insights into getting the best room for my stay (basic room)?
Thanks!

To me, its still a dream of a hotel, so which ever room you get, it should be a great expierence and should make you feel like an old aristocrat or king or something like that, classic old world charmin the style of th Grand Hotels´s, cannot get much better ....
The rooms to the front of the building look out at the busy Ringstrasse-boulevard, but I am sure their windows have proper noise-protection, the rooms to the back look out at the backside of the %26quot;Musikverein%26quot; building, I think I would prefer a front room then !
Enjoy your stay there !

Danke
I am quite excited about the stay, and your kind words for the old hotel have made me even more so.
Kind regards,

I think that you will find very few standard or basic rooms with a frontal view of the Ringstrasse. This usually found only in higher priced rooms.
Some standard rooms really need an update I am told.
Of course the public areas and deluxe rooms and suites are very nice.
Hopefully your rate includes the breakfast as this meal is expensive there.
Regarding suggestions for a better room- it helps if you are a Starwoods Member and have made a direct reservation .
Just a note --if you need tickets for anything, the Concierge there can find even the ones most in demand..
Enjoy Vienna.
