First Time to Vienna

My wife and I will be travelling to Vienna from Prague during the first two weeks of February 2008. I have two questions that I am hoping someone may be able to offer any assistance possible.

1. What kind of weather can we expect? We are hoping for snow, but with the crazy weather lately.....you never know.

2. What are some good side trips, outside of the usual trek to Salzburg that we could look into? We will be in Austria for 4 days, and would like to see as much as possible.

Thanks so much!

Hello,

1.) Snow in Vienna at this time is possible, but as you mentioned yourself, the weather is so hard to predict, we just had a very warm winter last year, but does that now mean that the next one will be the same or the exact opposite, nobody knows. Be prepared for cold weather in general, and be happy if there is some snowflakes then additionally.

2.) If you really want to do something outside, the abbeys of Klosterneuburg and melk aren´t too far away, or you could take a tour dwon into the Vienna woods, but to be honest, 4 days isn´t much for Vienna at all, the city is so full of history and culture, you could spend weeks here, so I would really think if it wouldn´t be better to stay in town and take your time to see more sights here !

Greets, Fritz
