Vienna at Christmas

Hi all

Please can you help with some advise, l am thinking of going with my 80 year old mum to Vienna for Chistmas, not on the usual Xmas type package as it will be so expensive, but just a short break from say 23rd to 27th December what is worrying me is that if l can just do a short break with say breakfast thrown in, will we be able to eat either at the hotel or outside restaurants or will everything close down?

If anyone has any other suggestions for a different city l would really appreciate any suggestions.

Many thanks for any help.

Sue

why not contact the austrian tourist office there must be one in london - or send an e-mail to the austrian tourist office in vienna. however i am positive the restaurants will be open for dinner even on christmas. i will be in vienna during christmas and i am not worried but again contact the austrian tourist office and have a wonderful trip.

as mentioned in other thread many shops/supermarkets close around 2-3 pm on 24th as we celebrate Christmas in the eve of the 24th. The 25-26th are also holidays and normal shops are closed but several restaurant will have open.
